Check where a figure came from, when it was collected and what it covers. These are the sources and calculations behind the site.
Wages: BLS May 2025
12,343 occupation-area rows cover Texas statewide and 32 local areas. All 254 Texas counties map to one of those areas. Texarkana includes Arkansas counties, so its figures cover jobs on both sides of the state line.
Annual and hourly pay come from separate BLS fields. A “#” marks a lower bound and “*” means BLS withheld the estimate. Missing values stay unavailable. We keep exact published values even when they exceed the lower-bound threshold, and keep other useful figures when a median is missing. Employment counts describe jobs. Counties that share an area also share its estimate.
Layoffs: TWC public records
The source files were saved on 2026-09-07. Annual workbooks cover 2020 through 2026, and the official Texas Open Data dataset supplies the 2019 records. The latest workbook notice date is 2026-09-01. TWC does not state a fixed publication schedule for these files.
We compare all eight public fields to remove exact repeats across files. Each occurrence stays traceable to its source. A changed count or date stays as a separate record because TWC doesn’t identify amendments. Totals can include overlapping announcements, so they don’t measure unique workers or statewide unemployment.
Notice date, TWC received date and effective date stay separate. County names come from the reported county field and the BLS county list; we don’t infer them from cities. 2 records have flagged source dates, shown as unavailable. We publish only the defined public fields, without job titles, confidential documents or raw attachments.
Wealth: SIPP 2025
These household wealth estimates describe December 2024. State and age come from the December record. The Texas sample contains 1076 households, and the national sample has 13,820. We exclude group quarters. The national calculation matches the Census report at its published rounding.
We round values more coarsely for display. The median uses weighted midpoint interpolation. Other percentiles and the calculator grid use the inverse weighted cumulative distribution, so the grid’s 50th-percentile threshold can differ from the displayed median. Negative and zero wealth stay included.
We hide estimates based on fewer than 100 sampled households. That minimum doesn’t establish reliability. We haven’t calculated replicate-weight confidence intervals or coefficients of variation, so state and age comparisons remain exploratory. Household records and identifiers aren’t included in the site.
Household selection and weighting
December (MONTHCODE=12) household reference persons (ERELRPE=1 or 2), living quarters TLIVQTR=1 or 2, unique SSUID and SHHADID, finite net worth and positive WPFINWGT. Median uses weighted midpoint interpolation; other percentiles use the inverse weighted cumulative distribution. Negative and zero wealth are included.

Monthly reports and updates
Reports group records by notice month using the files saved on the stated date. Late records can still arrive after a month ends; TWC’s publication lag is unknown. Comparisons use the same source coverage and date field, and each report keeps the records behind its totals.
Pages use saved data rather than fetching new figures from TWC, BLS or Census on every visit. Check the source dates to see how current a figure is. Older saved versions keep their original dates.
